We recently successfully project managed the replacement of the complete Control System for Yokogawa at Chevron’s Refinery in Milnerton Cape Town.

The cutover of the entire 100,000 barrel-per-day refinery was performed live without disruption to Chevron’s production operations and the project was completed on time and within budget. Success stories for the project were published by both Chevron and Yokogawa. (Success Story published by Yokogawa)

The project emphasized that a Project Manager should have an understanding not command of technologies and should focus on managing the project and avoid getting involved in detailed technical issues.

To ensure project success is achieved formal project and engineering procedures are developed and implemented to suit each project’s requirements.

Thorough risk assessment processes are followed and adapted to ensure that the specific types of risks associated with the project are identified and mitigated. The risk assessment process involves all the relevant stakeholders, and this ensures that all risks are identified and mitigated.

Regular lessons learnt sessions are held thus ensuring that procedures are continuously improved the based on the outcomes of these sessions.

Having an expert PM improves quality and can increase the competitiveness of your business.
